It's more than a career, it's a calling WI-Beaver Dam Dialysis Center Worker Type: Regular Job Highlights: Job Opportunity: Hemodialysis Technician Certified Dual Locations: SSM Health Beaver Dam Dialysis Center 2100 Kellom Road, Unit A Beaver Dam, WI 53916 SSM Health Fond Du Lac Dialysis Clinics 305 Camelot Drive in Fond du Lac, WI 54935 Position Details * Schedule: Full-time; scheduled 32 hours a week * Shift: Days * Hours: 5:15am to 4:30pm * Weekend Rotation: Every 3rd weekend * Required Certification: Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) - Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC)  Job Summary: Provides direct or indirect care to a varying number of patients and performs various functions associated with hemodialysis treatments independently and under the direction of a registered nurse. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES * Prepares patients for procedures by taking vital statistics and reviewing dialysis orders and lab work. * Sets up and monitors equipment for procedures both during and after. * Notes and documents patient's condition during procedure via observation, interview and monitoring of vital statistics; reports abnormal assessment findings. * Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN. * Obtains, processes and transports blood samples and culture specimens as ordered. * Demonstrates proficiency in performing dialysis treatments and in cannulation of vascular access. * Monitors and trouble shoots dialysis machine and RO/water system. * Participates in quality improvement activities to include collection of data and machine maintenance. * Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. * Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION * High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience EXPERIENCE * Minimum one year of Chronic and/or Acute Hemodialysis experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Constant standing and walking. * Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. * Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. * Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. * Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry. * Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. * Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. * Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships. * Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. * Occasional lifting/moving patients. * Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors. * Occasional driving.
