Henrico, VA | On site | Entry level | We are hiring several shifts right now, with full time and part time schedules available:

Shift A: Day shift working until 5:00pm
Shift B: Any shift ending between 5:00pm and 11:00pm, eligible for shift differential
Shift C: Any shift ending between 11:01pm and closing, eligible for a higher shift differential
Weekends: Incentive pay for all hours worked on a Saturday or Sunday

We are looking for people who take pride in getting the small things exactly right.

This is an entry level position into the card industry. It is repetitive, physical and requires excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. If you can establish a steady, consistent rhythm, you will do well here, and your efforts will be noticed.

WHO WE ARE

dcsports87 is a sports card consignment company in Henrico, Virginia. People all over the country mail us their sports cards, we photograph every card, list it, sell it, ship it, and get them paid.

We are the number one trading card consignor on eBay in the world. We move more than one hundred thousand cards a week and that number keeps climbing. We have over seventy team members working here.

We did not get here by being the cheapest place for customers to send their cards worth real money. We earned the trust of our customers because we take care of them, we move fast, we get it right, and when we do make a mistake we own it, learn from it and correct it.

WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY DO

You are the first and last set of hands that matter. Your photos are what buyers see before they bid, and your packaging is what they see when the card arrives. You check in at the start of your shift and receive your assignment for the day, which moves based on what came in and where the workload is.

Photos. Staging and photographing cards and collectibles so the condition, centering and color show exactly as they are. Much of this work happens in a dark, low light environment.

Uploading. Organizing images and entering card details into our inventory and sales systems, and checking that everything matches.

Shipping. Packing sold orders to our standards, labeling them correctly and getting them ready for the carrier.

Supplies. Keeping an eye on shipping supplies and letting management know before we run low.

Fixing what is off. When an order, a label or a count does not match, you flag it and help resolve it.

WE ARE NOT A COMPANY THAT STANDS STILL

We are constantly upgrading our machines and changing our processes for efficiency. We are heavily invested in technology and automation, and the way we run operations today will not be the way we run it a year from now.

If you pick up new equipment quickly, and you are the kind of person who notices a better way to do something and says so, that is a huge plus here. Some of the best changes we have made came from somebody standing at a station who spoke up.

NO CARD EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. CARD KNOWLEDGE IS A PLUS.

This is where a lot of people start in the card industry. If you know sports cards, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! or other collectible cards, tell us. It helps, and we would rather know it about you up front.

WHAT WE CARE ABOUT HERE

Work hard the whole shift, not just the first two hours.

Everything received in this building belongs to a customer. At first glance, you cannot tell a $5 card from a $5,000 card, so no matter its value, everything gets the same care and attention to detail. When something goes wrong, say so, and we fix it.

Be easy to work next to. Help the new person before they ask. We do not have room for gossip or drama here.

Go where you are needed. The stations change, the processes change, and we need people who move with it.

WHAT THE POSITION REALLY ENTAILS

We would rather tell you now than have you find out in week three.

Team members must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, which may be your entire shift.

Team members must be able to work in a dark, low light environment.

Team members must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, possess manual dexterity, grasp, feel, see, talk and hear.

Team members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.

Team members must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English to follow safety procedures, complete required documentation, and perform job duties safely.

Team members must be able to endure repetitive motion for long periods of time. This does not change. The team members who are most successful here enjoy the repetitiveness and overall environment.

Team members may be moved off a station they are comfortable with because the workload may change between stations. Some days the volume of work does not let up.

Somewhere around week three there is a Tuesday where your feet hurt and you think about not coming back Wednesday. Almost everybody has that Tuesday. The people who last here are the ones who show up Wednesday.

THIS JOB IS NOT FOR YOU IF

You are not flexible with changing work assignments and increasing workloads.

You do not like repetitive work. This is the honest one, and it is why most people who do not last do not last.

You do not understand the sense of urgency to meet customer deadlines and company expectations.

You do not have attention to detail skills. A blurry photo or a wrong label costs a customer money.

You are a wanderer or roamer and leave your workstation. People notice here.

You are a gossiper and create unwanted distractions in the workplace.

THE PAY AND HOURS

$20.00 an hour to start, same rate whether you are full time or part time.

After a successful 90 day introductory period you may be eligible for a pay increase based on performance, attendance and skill.

Team members that work a minimum of 30 hours per week are eligible for medical and dental coverage. All team members are eligible for paid time off, holiday pay and a 401(k) with a company match.
