What We're Looking For:

We're looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Billing Assistant to join our team! If you enjoy working with numbers, solving problems, and keeping things running smoothly, this could be a great opportunity to put your skills to work for a meaningful mission.

What You'll Do:

As our Billing Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting billing accuracy, reimbursement, and the overall revenue cycle. Your responsibilities will include:

• Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility, review coverage and benefits, and help resolve insurance discrepancies.
• Billing & Claims Support: Generate and review monthly charges, identify billing errors, assist with claim corrections, and support timely reimbursement.
• Medicare & Medicaid Processing: Review Medicare benefit periods, process required Texas Medicaid documentation, and assist with Medicare and Medicaid billing activities.
• Payment & Collections: Assist with payment tracking, cash posting audits, self-pay collections, and outstanding claims follow-up.
• Data Accuracy: Maintain accurate payer information, reimbursement rates, billing records, and reports within our electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with clinical teams, patients, families, and insurance providers to resolve billing concerns and keep processes moving forward.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in healthcare billing, insurance verification, patient accounts, or revenue cycle support.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing processes.
• Hospice billing experience is a strong plus!
• Experience working with electronic medical records, billing software, payer portals, or Texas Medicaid systems.
