Position Title:                          Food Service Supervisor

Department:                            Georgia-Cumberland Academy

Immediate Supervisor:            Director of Food Service

Status:                                     Non-Exempt (Hourly), Part-Time 30+ (30-37 hours per week)
                                                10-month (August-May)

Wage Scale:                             74%-83%

Scope of Responsibilities:

 

The Food Service Supervisor works closely with the Director of Food Service to ensure the successful operation of the department.  This often will entail supervision of the hourly employees, meal preparation, serving, and oversight of the operation on designated days and other times in the absence of the Director.

 

Typical Duties:

1. Supervises student workers and ensures proper safety and production procedures are followed.
2. Responsible for preparation of meals in coordination with the Food Service Director.
3. Maintains quality control of food and services provided by the department.
4. Enforces and adheres to state and federal food service regulations.
5. Management of staff on their duty shifts.
6. Maintains cleanliness of cafeteria facility.
7. Ensures that meals are prepared and served when scheduled, which will include early morning, evening and weekends.

 

Qualifications:

• Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, be a Seventh-day Adventist church member in regular standing, with a desire to serve in a cooperative, spiritually-redemptive, and soul-winning atmosphere.
• Prior experience in institutional food service.
• Current ServSafe Manager Certification.
• Good organizational and management skills are essential with strong, positive people skills.
• Must exhibit exemplary conduct in keeping with a supervisory position at an Adventist institution.
• Must be able to write and speak English fluently.

 

Physical Demands:

Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching.  May require lifting up to 50 pounds.  Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard kitchen equipment.  Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

 

Working Conditions:

Essential tasks are performed under normal work space conditions with little/no noticeable discomfort.  Work area is well lighted and ventilated.

Special Requirements:

This position often requires long hours.  This will be partially offset by slower times and/or occasions when the Director of Food Service is present to give leadership in food preparation, serving, and cleanup.  Must be able to provide own transportation.
