This position is for Pittsburgh Public School high school students interested in the UPMC Junior Scholars Program as part of their career and technical education program academic requirement.

UPMC Shadyside hospitals are hosting a UPMC Junior Scholars Program in partnership with Pittsburgh Public Schools. This program is designed specifically for high school students to gain exposure and experience inside the hospital which will enhance the patient experience and strengthen teamwork. 

Work tasks will include:

• Greeting and escorting patients and visitors
• Distributing supplies
• Meal delivery
• Environmental maintenance
• Equipment management
• Administrative support

This is a transformational position with exposure to many different areas within the hospital; no day will be the same!

This program will run from January 2027 through March 2027 with a mandatory orientation January 12, 13 and 14. During the program, participants will work three days per week as part of the high school career and technical education program. 

• Must have the desire, drive, and compassion needed to provide an exceptional patient and family experience at all times.
• Active High School/GED program enrollment with Pittsburgh Public Schools
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
