SUMMARY: The Buffet Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking buffet food items to menu specifications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils Cook the exact number of items to keep buffet stocked Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas Measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles Pre-cook items such as bacon, in order to prepare them for later use Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking Clean, stock, and restock workstations Performs other related duties as assigned by management Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to communicate effectively with other team members Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness Performs work with little or no supervision; works independently Knowledge of all health and safety regulations and procedures Commitment to excellence and high standards Ability to manage priorities and workflow Professional appearance and demeanor EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years' cooking experience, preferably high volume COMPETENCIES: PHYSICAL Quality--Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.  Quantity--Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly.  Safety and Security--Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
