This role supports the day-to-day operation, patching, hardening, monitoring and restoration of a large VMware-based test infrastructure for a health IT program. It leads an on-site team of systems, network, storage and data center professionals who keep critical test environments available, secure and ready for every scheduled test event. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and eager to contribute to innovative projects that support both internal and customer-driven initiatives.

  • Coordinate with the prime contractor's Infrastructure Lead, the Facility and Lab Manager, cybersecurity staff and Government stakeholders on priorities, schedules and escalations.
  • Make sure the team delivers on patching, vulnerability remediation and STIG compliance deadlines, and report status and risks to leadership.
  • Plan maintenance and changes around Government test calendars and change freezes so test events are never disrupted.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex service desk tickets that need infrastructure support.
  • Maintain cross-training, coverage plans and runbooks so every role has a qualified backup.
  • Lead onboarding for new staff, including access requests and training compliance.

What you'll bring:

  • 8+ years of IT infrastructure operations experience in an enterprise data center or lab environment.
  • 3+ years leading, supervising or serving as team lead for technical staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Working knowledge of VMware vSphere, Windows Server and RHEL, enterprise networking, and storage/backup environments.
  • Experience with incident, change and problem management using an ITSM tool, preferably Jira Service Management.

  • Strong communication skills with Government customers and partner contractors.
  • Ability to support an after-hours on-call rotation.
