Maintenance and Process Manager
POULSBO, Washington
FULL_TIME | USD 90000.00 - 100000.00 YEAR
Job Details: Job Location: 26246 12 TREES LANE NW - POULSBO, WA, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $90000.00 - $100000.00Salary/year, Welcome. We're glad you're here. And we're not just saying that. We're glad we're here too. We are proud of this company and take great pleasure in introducing you to the Watson difference.  We are builders.  For more than 60 years we have designed and built workspaces for some of the most dynamic and innovative companies. Our designs are functional, refined, and manufactured with respect for our people and the environment. We are proud to source the best talent and materials at our manufacturing facility in Poulsbo, WA.  We're looking for a Maintenance and Process Manager (MPM) who supports the technical backbone of our factory: the machine readiness, process design, automation, and manufacturing engineering capability that let the production floor run reliably and get better every day. Our floor runs CNC routers, fiber lasers, press brakes, edgebanders, weld, and a powder coat line, and keeping that equipment available and capable is central to this role.  This role leads Watson's manufacturing engineering team and maintenance teams. The Plant Manager sets direction, and the Value Stream Managers alongside the MPM define the current condition, the target condition, and the goals that matter. Your team helps make it happen, through process design, reliable automation, preventative maintenance, machine uptime and a culture where problems get solved at the root, not just patched for the shift.  Sitting squarely within operations you remain guided by customer demand assisting your peers in the VSM seats with machine availability, data, and process needed to ensure we can execute on time, every time.  This role reports to the Plant Manager and works closely with the Value Stream Managers, Engineering, Production Planning, Purchasing, and Safety to bring practical, deliberate and well thought out changes to production.  Please note, this role is 100% on site at our Poulsbo, Washington workplace called The Orchard.  The Orchard is more than merely our Pacific Northwest headquarters and the land that surrounds it. With a perimeter of towering Douglas firs and vistas of the Olympic Mountains, it's quite an inspirational workplace. The Orchard is more expansive than its literal acreage. It's an oxygen rich metaphor of what we're here to do and, more importantly, what we're here to take care of. We love working here, and we think you will too!  WHAT YOU'LL DO  Manufacturing Engineering  Use lean as the shared language with the floor (standard work, 5S, value stream mapping, A3, kaizen) and lead kaizen events and process redesigns that close throughput, quality, and safety gaps.  Partner with the Plant Manager and Value Stream Managers to turn current and target conditions into plans for process changes, tooling, automation, and standard work.  Build and maintain the tooling programs, and work instructions that let the floor run safely, consistently, and at quality.  Scope and implement automation and equipment opportunities, balancing capability against cost and reliability.  Work with Product Development on manufacturability during new product introduction and product modifications.  Maintenance and Reliability  Own the PM program across all production and facility equipment, and shift the team from reactive repair to planned and predictive maintenance using condition monitoring, failure history, and OEM guidance.  Get machines back up fast, lead root cause analysis on significant and repeat failures, and close out corrective actions.  Serve as chief caretaker of the Watson CMMS, which tracks all plant and facility assets.  Build TPM practices, including autonomous maintenance where operators own daily checks, cleaning, and early problem detection.  Manage critical spare parts and OEM and service-provider relationships, balancing cost against downtime risk.  Schedule planned downtime with the Value Stream Managers to protect customer commitments.  Ensure all maintenance work follows LOTO, machine guarding, and electrical safety practices, and partner with Safety on incident follow-up.  Team Leadership  Lead and develop manufacturing engineers, maintenance technicians, and machine experts, and set priorities so support lands where it matters most.  Build on-call coverage and cross-train across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls work so no critical machine depends on one person.  Build a team that coaches rather than commands, and recruit technical talent for a growing, more automated factory.  Projects and Performance  Lead projects from scoping through commissioning and handoff, including PM setup and training, and hold them to timeline and budget.  Make data-backed repair, rebuild, or replace recommendations, and make the cost-benefit case plainly to leadership.  Own the maintenance budget and partner with Supply Chain on tooling, parts, supplies, and service contracts.  Track and report OEE, uptime, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, planned vs. reactive ratio.  Qualifications: WHAT YOU'LL NEED  3+ years in manufacturing or process engineering, maintenance management, reliability engineering, or related technical leadership, ideally including people leadership  Strong grounding in lean and TPS, applied on the floor and not just in training  Hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, plus familiarity with, CNC, PLCs, and machine controls  Experience running a PM program in a CMMS and using ERP and production data to find constraints and measure results  Working knowledge of LOTO, NFPA 70E, and OSHA machine safety  Ability to translate technical detail into plain language that leadership and the floor can act on  A plus: NPI and reliability-centered maintenance experience  WHO YOU ARE  You think in lean, see waste and flow problems naturally, and use lean as common ground with every team.  You're a system builder who's insanely curious about root cause. Every breakdown is information, and you're not satisfied until it doesn't happen again.  You're a coach, not a commander. You earn trust on the floor, hold high standards without making people feel small, and treat every question as a chance to teach.  You see how small details fit the big picture and collaborate naturally, because everyone is running parts of the same machine.  WAGE AND COMPENSATION  This role can expect to earn $90,000 – $110,000 per annum, based on experience  ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES OF WATSON EMPLOYEES  Insane curiosity  Excited and enthusiastic about your work  Embrace and exhibit our values  OUR CULTURE  Monthly BBQ  Espresso bar  Annual Bravo Night  Onsite gym and showers  Campus walking trail  Fun, challenging, and engaging culture  Pride and satisfaction of manufacturing tangible products  OUR BENEFITS  INSURANCE | All employees and their dependents will have the ability to enroll in medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans. However, we expect a reasonable amount to be a few weeks during your first year of employment.  PAID HOLIDAYS | Watson is closed for 8 holidays every year and offers every employee an additional paid holiday to choose upon employment.  PROFIT SHARING | Profit sharing is how we reward the effort and commitment of our employees. Generally, 25% of profits are allocated to the Profit Sharing Plan after the baseline profit level is met. The overall profit sharing amount varies from year to year.  EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM | This is a free service for all employees and dependents to provide support for any mental, emotional, relational, and financial need, as well as crisis and grief support.  WHY WATSON?  Everything we do is rooted in soulful design and a deep respect for how things are made.
