Manufacturer Sales Representative - AAC
Field-Based | Multi-State Territory | $75,000 Base + Uncapped Commission
Are you an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist who loves AAC, enjoys working directly with clinicians, and wants to combine clinical expertise with sales, product education, and strategic account development? RM Speech is looking for a Manufacturer Sales Representative - AAC to serve as a regional product expert and help expand adoption of our Speech Generating Device portfolio across a multi-state territory.
This is not a traditional therapy position and it is not a routine territory-sales role. You will use your AAC background to build credibility with rehabilitation programs, VA clinicians, strategic AAC clinics, and channel partners; lead high-value product demonstrations and education; support clinician-led evaluations; develop strategic accounts; and directly grow RM Speech sales within the Veterans Affairs market.
Compensation & Earning Opportunity
Base Salary
$75,000 annually
Performance-Based Commission
Uncapped commission based on qualified VA SGD sales and designated Strategic AAC Account growth
Mature-Performance Cash Compensation
Approximately $150,000 annually at mature performance expectations, with additional upside based on results
Full commission terms, eligibility requirements, and payment timing are governed by the RM Speech commission plan.
What Success Looks Like
Build Veterans Affairs business to a mature expectation of at least 5 qualified delivered RM Speech SGDs per month in the assigned region.
Develop and grow a focused portfolio of formally designated Strategic AAC Accounts with realistic potential to consistently generate 2 or more RM Speech SGDs per month.
Help move strategic accounts from development to consistent production and then into higher levels of RM Speech product adoption.
Serve as the regional manufacturer product expert who helps clinicians and channel partners confidently evaluate, understand, and select RM Speech products.
Create measurable growth through strategic rehabilitation-system development, VA relationships, product demonstrations, clinician education, competitive conversions, product launches, and high-value account support.
Use CRM, account data, product opportunity, competitive position, and clear next actions to direct field time toward the highest-value opportunities.
Maintain purposeful field presence across the assigned region, including frequent regional travel and regular overnight travel as business needs require.
What You Will Do
Develop manufacturer-level relationships with rehabilitation hospitals, health systems, AAC clinics, VA medical centers, influential clinicians, assistive-technology professionals, and other strategic accounts throughout the assigned region.
Lead product demonstrations, clinician education, in-services, lunch-and-learns, product updates, conference education, and other approved manufacturer training activities.
Support clinician-led AAC evaluations by providing product expertise, appropriate demo equipment, device setup, access-method support, and product-specific information while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries.
Partner with channel Medical Sales Representatives on high-value AAC opportunities where manufacturer-level product expertise can strengthen clinician confidence, competitive positioning, product adoption, or account penetration.
Identify, develop, and grow Strategic AAC Accounts with meaningful recurring SGD potential rather than simply providing routine geographic account coverage.
Own direct manufacturer sales growth and relationship development within Veterans Affairs facilities throughout the assigned region.
Support new product launches, early adopter development, clinician/KOL relationships, competitive conversions, strategic presentations, and regional market-development initiatives.
Maintain assigned demo equipment in professional, current, presentation-ready condition and coordinate equipment availability for strategic opportunities.
Capture meaningful market intelligence, including competitor activity, clinician preferences, product feedback, lost opportunities, emerging needs, and barriers to adoption, and communicate that feedback to RM Speech leadership and internal teams.
Document meaningful field activity, opportunities, commitments, barriers, competitive position, and next actions in the approved CRM/source system.
How This Role Works With Channel Partners
RM Speech works with DME and other channel partners to bring our AAC products to patients. The Manufacturer Sales Representative functions as the manufacturer-level clinical/product expert supporting high-value opportunities through education, demonstrations, strategic account development, competitive positioning, and clinician engagement. Channel-partner sales representatives retain responsibility for their own local territory, referral relationships, and internal operations. This RM Speech role does not manage or direct a partner organization's internal workflow.
You May Be a Strong Fit If You
Are an SLP with meaningful AAC/SGD experience and want to use your clinical expertise in a broader commercial and manufacturer-facing role.
Enjoy teaching clinicians, demonstrating technology, discussing access methods, and helping teams understand why one product solution may fit a particular communication need.
Are comfortable with sales expectations, measurable results, strategic account development, and performance-based compensation.
Can build credibility with experienced SLPs, rehabilitation teams, VA clinicians, physicians, assistive-technology professionals, and healthcare decision-makers.
Enjoy developing new relationships, growing underpenetrated accounts, and helping convert strong clinical interest into sustained product adoption.
Can independently manage a large multi-state territory, significant travel, and competing priorities without losing follow-through.
Use CRM and business data as tools to decide where to spend your time rather than simply measuring activity.
Want a field-heavy role that combines AAC expertise, product education, strategic sales, and significant earning upside.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
Meaningful professional AAC/SGD experience required, including practical familiarity with AAC evaluations, device trials, access methods, communication software, and the clinical considerations that influence product selection.
CCC-SLP strongly preferred.
Active SLP licensure in at least one U.S. jurisdiction strongly preferred; additional licensure may be beneficial based on territory needs.
Healthcare, medical-device, AAC/SGD, assistive-technology, DME, complex-rehab, rehabilitation-technology, pharmaceutical/specialty sales, strategic account development, or other clinically oriented commercial experience strongly preferred.
Strong presentation, product-demonstration, clinician-education, relationship-building, consultative-selling, organization, follow-through, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Comfort working under measurable sales, product-adoption, account-growth, or production expectations.
Strong CRM and computer proficiency and ability to use reporting data to prioritize accounts, opportunities, and travel.
Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving and travel requirements.
Territory, Travel & Work Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt, field-based position covering an assigned multi-state region. Territory size, states, metropolitan markets, and account responsibilities may vary or change based on business needs, market opportunity, organizational growth, and territory realignment. Candidates must reside within the assigned region or be willing to relocate as required; reasonable access to a major commercial airport is strongly preferred.
Travel is approximately 75% and includes frequent local and regional driving, regular overnight stays, and air travel throughout the assigned territory and to other markets as business needs require. The position is generally Monday through Friday, with flexibility required to meet customer, clinician, territory, travel, and business needs. Early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekend work may be required for travel, conferences, demonstrations, evaluations, VA deliveries, customer events, training, or other business priorities.
Clinical Role & Professional Boundaries
Your SLP and AAC background is central to this role and provides the clinical credibility needed to educate clinicians, support product demonstrations, participate in clinician-led evaluations, and serve as a trusted AAC product resource. This is primarily a manufacturer sales and product-adoption position, not a treating-clinician role. Independent diagnosis, prescribing, determination of medical necessity, or final clinical recommendations are not routine responsibilities unless separately assigned and authorized by RM Speech.
