Job Overview

The Machine Operator processes daily letters, weekly payroll, daily checks, Accounts Payable, 1099s, inventory labels, and returned mail. They also perform other duties as assigned. This role operates in an open warehouse environment, where machinery is used to process checks and letters, and warehouse equipment, including forklifts and end riders, is utilized.

What You Will Do

• Operate and maintain Pitney Bowes Relay insert machines, postage meters, and folders
• Set up and prepare jobs for processing
• Process letters, daily checks, weekly checks, and special jobs using the Pitney Relay Inserter
• Manually insert Accounts Payable and Payroll items
• Sort, pack, and mail inventory labels
• Balance all jobs to ensure accuracy
• Post daily mail
• Print UPS labels
• Ensure the quality of folds, insertion accuracy, posting, and balancing of all jobs
• Process undeliverable Electronic Gift Card and Merchandise Credit packages returned by USPS
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
• Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Skills You Will Need

Machine Operation & Maintenance: Experience in operating and maintaining Pitney Bowes Relay insert machines, postage meters, folders, and warehouse equipment like forklifts and end riders. 

Attention to Detail: High accuracy in processing and balancing jobs, ensuring quality in folds, insertion accuracy, and posting. 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic math operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) with whole numbers and decimals. 

Mechanical Aptitude: Mechanically inclined, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment. 

Problem Solving: Ability to follow instructions in various formats (written, oral, diagram), solve problems involving concrete variables, and adapt to standardized situations. 

Time Management: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to meet production standards and deadlines. 

Computer Literacy: Basic PC skills, including printing UPS labels and navigating systems for job preparation and processing. 

Warehouse & Shipping Skills: Knowledge of sorting, packing, and mailing procedures for inventory labels and handling returned mail, such as undeliverable packages. 

Communication & Documentation: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. 

Who You Are

• Candidates with a High School Diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply
  • 1-3 months of related experience and/or training preferred.  
• This role involves performing essential job functions such as communication, collaboration, and use of office and computer systems. Responsibilities include the ability to access and review written and electronic information, and to move within the work environment and interact with workplace materials as needed to carry out job responsibilities.
• Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
