About the Role

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is the primary resource and trusted business partner for our Maintenance and Operations teams. You will plan, coordinate, and schedule preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work so Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians can execute safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

This role calls for extensive experience maintaining and repairing production and packaging equipment, and the ability to define step-by-step tasks and identify the parts, internal labor, and outside resources needed to finish the work. A strong working knowledge of CMMS systems is essential for managing work order backlog, planning machine rebuilds, and ensuring critical spare parts are kitted and ready, all while meeting people and food safety requirements.

What You'll Do

Maintenance Planning

  • Develop detailed job plans covering scope, labor estimates, crafts, safety requirements, tools, parts, contractor support, and estimated duration
  • Perform field walk-downs with managers, supervisors, and technicians before scheduling complex work
  • Review production schedules and meet with Operations and Production Scheduling to understand line availability and request planned downtime
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Leadership on outside contractor schedules and their impact on resources
  • Plan holiday shutdowns and equipment rebuilds ahead of each seasonal production ramp-up

Maintenance Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and shutdown schedules
  • Communicate planned-work priorities to Maintenance Leadership and technicians
  • Facilitate the weekly Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Meeting with Maintenance Leadership and Operations
  • Maintain a prioritized work order backlog based on safety, food safety, asset criticality, and production risk
  • Monitor work requests from the CMMS portal, email, safety audits, phone, and radio to ensure timely assignment and completion

CMMS Administration

  • Maintain the asset hierarchy, standard naming conventions, and asset QR/barcode tags
  • Ensure critical assets have complete documentation, including manuals, electrical schematics, critical spare parts lists, setup and centerline guides, work instructions, and LOTO procedures
  • Maintain accurate failure history, failure codes, corrective actions, and technician feedback to support reliability analysis
  • Ensure work orders are properly coded, documented, closed on time, and "ready to schedule"
  • Manage active CMMS users and licenses

Preventive Maintenance Program

  • Develop and continuously improve PM procedures using OEM manuals, CMMS data, technician experience, and reliability data
  • Set appropriate PM frequencies and evaluate converting calendar-based PMs to meter-based triggers
  • Support the move toward Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM), and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)

Equipment Rebuild Planning

  • Create and manage the machine rebuild plan so work is completed before seasonal ramp-up
  • Coordinate OEMs and outside contractors for evaluations, periodic services, and scheduled rebuilds
  • Work with the MRO Buyer to ensure parts are ordered, available, and kitted

Maintenance Analytics

  • Build KPI dashboards covering PM compliance, schedule compliance, backlog health, planned vs. reactive work, labor utilization, MTBF, MTTR, downtime, inventory accuracy, and maintenance costs
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, recurring failure modes, and root causes
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for Maintenance Leadership and support RCFA activities

Maintenance Audits

  • Develop inspection and audit schedules, checklists, and corrective action tracking for PMs, in-process work, and completed work
  • Trend audit findings and recommend updates to job plans and PM procedures
  • Share objective findings with leadership to support technician coaching and reinforce craftsmanship

Critical Spare Parts and MRO Support

  • Serve as assistant and backup to the MRO Buyer
  • Coordinate parts purchasing, repair and rebuild services, inventory replenishment, and vendor/OEM support
  • Purchase parts and issue purchase orders to OEMs and contractors
  • Meet with vendors and suppliers to coordinate purchases and learn about new technology

  • Strong written and verbal communication and meeting facilitation skills
  • Analytical ability to interpret maintenance data, OEM manuals, drawings, BOMs, and spare-part recommendations
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently to meet deadlines
