Position Summary:

The Systems Engineer, Infrastructure leads the design, implementation, security, resiliency, and ongoing improvement of Integrated Dermatology’s centralized cloud and systems platforms. This position serves as the technical lead for Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), managed SQL, Web Application Firewall technologies, Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint management, backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery platforms.

The Systems Engineer, Infrastructure works with internal teams, application owners, security personnel, vendors, and managed service providers to ensure centralized platforms are secure, scalable, reliable, properly documented, and aligned with company standards.

• Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for Integrated Dermatology’s Microsoft Azure environment, including architecture, virtual machines, networking, storage, security, monitoring, resiliency, and lifecycle management.
• Design, implement, and improve Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, endpoint, identity, and supporting cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Administer and support Azure SQL and Microsoft SQL Server workloads, including backups, maintenance planning, performance tuning, disaster recovery, access controls, and security configuration.
• Design, implement, administer, and optimize Azure Virtual Desktop environments including host pools, session hosts, application delivery, profile management, image management, monitoring, capacity planning, performance optimization, and security configuration.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain enterprise backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery solutions including Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, Microsoft 365 data protection solutions, recovery testing, retention management, and recovery documentation.
• Establish and maintain architecture diagrams, baseline configurations, operational runbooks, monitoring standards, implementation plans, disaster recovery documentation, recovery testing procedures, and business continuity plans.
• Establish, document, and periodically validate recovery point objectives (RPOs), recovery time objectives (RTOs), backup validation procedures, restoration processes, and disaster-recovery testing requirements for critical infrastructure and business systems.
• Partner with application owners and vendors to troubleshoot database issues, analyze performance, support capacity planning, and implement database administration standards.
• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize Web Application Firewall solutions protecting externally facing applications, web services, APIs, and business-critical systems.
• Configure and maintain application-layer protections, including WAF managed and custom rules, rate limiting, geographic restrictions, logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident troubleshooting.
• Lead complex Tier 3 escalations, technical root-cause analysis, capacity planning, resilience improvements, and platform lifecycle upgrades.
• Automate repeatable infrastructure and administrative processes using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, APIs, and approved orchestration tools.
• Provide technical direction and knowledge transfer to Systems Administrators and IT Support Analysts while coordinating infrastructure work with security, automation, application owners, vendors, and managed service providers.

• Advanced experience designing, administering, securing, and troubleshooting Microsoft Azure environments.
• Advanced experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, PowerShell, and enterprise endpoint management.
• Experience implementing and supporting Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, backup retention policies, recovery testing, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience administering Azure Virtual Desktop environments including host pools, user profile management, image lifecycle management, application publishing, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of business continuity planning, disaster recovery methodologies, recovery objectives (RPO/RTO), backup validation, and infrastructure resiliency practices.
• Experience administering Azure SQL and Microsoft SQL Server environments, including backup, recovery, performance tuning, maintenance, and security.
• Experience implementing and managing Web Application Firewall technologies and application-layer security controls.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, identity, monitoring, storage, resiliency, and cloud security.
• Experience using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, or comparable technologies to automate infrastructure administration.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex cloud and systems projects from discovery through implementation and operational support.
• Strong documentation, troubleshooting, prioritization, and communication skills, including the ability to translate technical risk into practical business recommendations.

Experience:

• 6+ years designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint, managed SQL, backup, disaster recovery, application-protection, and enterprise infrastructure solutions.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent advanced professional experience may be considered.

Certifications/Licenses:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert preferred. Azure Database Administrator Associate, CompTIA Security+, or comparable cloud, database, and security certifications are a plus.
