Turn Your Passion for Helping People Into a Career That Matters!

Do you enjoy helping people discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals? Are you passionate about connecting people with opportunities that can change their lives?

At Omega Health Services, we believe meaningful employment creates more than a paycheck. It builds confidence, independence, purpose, and a stronger sense of belonging.

We're looking for a compassionate, motivated, and relationship-focused Vocational Counselor to join our Fairfax, VA team. You'll help veterans and individuals with disabilities explore career options, prepare for employment, connect with local employers, and develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the workplace.

You don't have to come from a traditional vocational rehabilitation background to make a difference. If you enjoy supporting others, building relationships, solving problems, and helping people reach their goals, your experience may be a great fit for this role!

What You'll Do

  • Help people discover their potential: Identify individuals' strengths, interests, skills, and career goals.
  • Guide career development: Provide individualized career counseling, employment planning, and job readiness support.
  • Prepare candidates for success: Assist with resumes, job applications, interview preparation, and workplace skills.
  • Connect people with opportunities: Identify job openings and match individuals with positions aligned with their abilities and interests.
  • Build employer partnerships: Reach out to local businesses, develop employment opportunities, and promote inclusive hiring.
  • Support workplace success: Provide job coaching, onboarding assistance, and follow-up to help individuals maintain employment.
  • Build community connections: Collaborate with employers, families, referral partners, and community organizations.
  • Track progress and maintain records: Complete case notes, service documentation, and required reports accurately and on time.
  • Manage your caseload: Coordinate multiple priorities and meet service deadlines while working independently throughout the surrounding communities.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is dependable, organized, adaptable, and genuinely interested in helping others succeed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a community-based environment.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screenings.

Your Experience Could Be a Great Fit!

You don't necessarily need to have held the title of Vocational Counselor to bring valuable skills to this role.

Experience in any of the following areas can be beneficial:

  • Vocational rehabilitation or supported employment
  • Disability services or human services
  • Career counseling, coaching, or mentoring
  • Case management or community-based services
  • Workforce development or recruiting
  • Job coaching or employment support
  • Employer outreach or relationship management
  • Veteran support services
  • Education, teaching, or tutoring
  • Customer service, caregiving, or other people-focused roles

Considering a career change? Skills such as communication, problem-solving, organization, and helping others overcome challenges can transfer well to vocational counseling.

If you're passionate about helping people find meaningful employment and are willing to learn, we encourage you to apply!
