Analytica is seeking a Lead Cloud Architect to lead the architecture, engineering, and operational oversight of the cloud infrastructure supporting a mission-critical USCIS data and analytics platform. The architect will own the technical direction of an AWS-based environment integrating Databricks, PostgreSQL, data engineering pipelines, and MLOps capabilities, ensuring the platform is secure, resilient, scalable, automated, observable, and cost-efficient.
This is a senior hands-on architecture role requiring deep AWS expertise combined with experience operating modern data platforms. The architect will work across cloud infrastructure, data engineering, DevSecOps, MLOps, cybersecurity, and application teams to establish architectural standards and ensure reliable production operations.
Analytica has been recognized by Inc. Magazine as a fastest-growing private US small business. We work with U.S. government customers in health, civilian, and national security missions. Analytica offers competitive compensation with opportunities for bonuses, employer paid health care, training and development funds, and 401k match.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as hands-on senior cloud and infrastructure architect responsible for the architecture, reliability, scalability, security, and performance of the AWS-based platform.
- Design and govern AWS cloud architecture, including networking, compute, storage, identity and access management, encryption, monitoring, logging, backup, disaster recovery, and high availability.
- Architect and oversee infrastructure supporting Databricks and PostgreSQL, including connectivity, security boundaries, scaling, availability, performance, and integration with AWS services.
- Establish architectural patterns for data ingestion, processing, transformation, orchestration, and publication pipelines supporting analytics and AI/ML workloads.
- Define and oversee MLOps architecture and pipelines supporting model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, versioning, and production operations.
- Lead implementation and governance of Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation, to provide repeatable and auditable infrastructure deployments.
- Establish CI/CD and DevSecOps patterns for infrastructure, data pipelines, and ML workloads.
- Define platform standards for monitoring, observability, logging, alerting, capacity management, and incident troubleshooting.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to incorporate federal security requirements into architecture and engineering decisions.
- Drive cloud cost and performance optimization, including resource utilization, workload sizing, storage, compute, and Databricks consumption.
- Lead architectural reviews, technical trade studies, root-cause analysis, and remediation of complex production issues.
- Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, infrastructure standards, technical decision records, deployment patterns, and operational documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to cloud, DevSecOps, data engineering, and MLOps engineers.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, systems architecture, DevOps, or related disciplines, including significant architecture-level responsibility.
- Deep hands-on AWS architecture experience designing and operating secure, highly available production environments.
- Demonstrated experience architecting infrastructure for enterprise data platforms, analytics, and/or AI/ML workloads.
- Production experience managing data infrastructure, including Databricks or comparable Spark-based data platforms and Postgres SQL in cloud environments. Experience ensuring availability, performance, security, backup/recovery, and connectivity considerations.
- Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation. Experience designing and governing CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines for DataOps and MLOps requirements.
- Experience with MLOps architecture and operationalization of machine learning workloads.
- Strong knowledge of AWS cloud networking, IAM, encryption, secrets management, compute, storage, monitoring, and logging.
- Experience designing high availability, disaster recovery, observability, and operational resilience into production cloud platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex distributed-system and cloud infrastructure issues.
- Ability to communicate architectural decisions and technical tradeoffs to engineering, security, program, and government stakeholders.
- US Citizen with an existing public trust or ability to secure a public trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or Databricks Solution Architect preferred
- Prior experience operating in a DHS federal operating environment such as USCIS, CBP or ICE
