About ART INC- ART INC is a community-based arts and culture nonprofit in Peoria, IL. Our mission is to INSPIRE and EMPOWER the community through arts, education and culture. ART INC serves young people and families through three main programs: ASALA (Arts, Science and Leadership Academy) for youth ages 6 to 14; Pathways to College or Careers, providing job training and job development for ages 15 to 24; and SOLVE, providing gun violence intervention and victim assistance. ART INC staff, board, volunteers, and teaching artists work to give every student the chance to imagine, create, and realize their full potential through the arts, regardless of ability to pay.
About the Position- The Community Youth Lead plans, coordinates, and delivers the day-to-day operations of Community Youth Services (CYS), a state grant-funded, community-led program that works to reduce delinquency and violence among youth ages 11 to 24 in Peoria's 61603, 61604, and 61605 zip codes. The Lead is the program's primary connection to youth, families, and community partners.
CYS is guided by three committees: the Area Project Board, the Peoria Youth Empowerment Committee (adult community stakeholders), and the Peoria Peacemakers Youth Committee. This program year also includes a four-week Youth Film Class for ages 14 to 18 that produces six to eight youth-created public service announcements. The program's goal is to serve 50 unduplicated youth this year.
