Maryhurst is a private, not-for-profit organization focused on strengthening and empowering children and families in Kentucky who are facing significant challenges. Serving a state with one of the highest child abuse rates in the country, Maryhurst provides a comprehensive range of mental health care services, including counseling, educational support, residential programs for girls affected by trauma, and transitional living and aftercare services. Their work is designed to prevent abuse, restore hope, and empower survivors by fostering safety, resilience, and healthy family relationships. The organization’s approach centers on partnering with families at the earliest signs of conflict to strengthen bonds and protect children’s well-being. For youth without a safe home, Maryhurst’s residential and community-based programs offer healing environments and pathways to stability. Measurable outcomes underscore their impact: 90 percent of children who complete a Maryhurst program move on to less-restrictive settings, and nearly eight in ten youth in residential care show academic improvement during their stay. Guided by a mission to create communities free of abuse and filled with hope, Maryhurst continues to make a significant difference in the lives of Kentucky’s most vulnerable children and families.
